Our involvement in the USO Corporate Angel
Project came about through the "Celebrate Life:
Thanks A Trillion" program as part of
Northwestern Mutual's company wide program. Each
office has received money to celebrate the
company milestone as the first direct provider
of life insurance to reach 1 trillion dollars of
individual life insurance in force.
Each office was free to spend the money on a
celebration of their choosing. Several offices
are having internal celebrations for their
financial representatives, staff, spouses or
clients. On deciding how to spend our $5000, the
Leslie Financial Group overwhelmingly decided
that they would like to use the money on a
project that would focus our appreciation for
the men and women from our community who are
serving in the military. Many of the people who
work here have relatives who have served in the
military or know someone who is serving. We also
have veterans of the military in our office and
some of our interns have served in the military.
After learning about the ongoing USO Care
Package Program, we felt it was an extremely
worthwhile project. Not only is it a project
that we can contribute monetarily, but our
financial representatives and staff can enjoy a
day of fellowship and "hands on" community
service, helping to get the care packages out to
military personnel overseas.
